Islamabad (Reporter) A new story has emerged regarding the increase in the salaries of the Senate Chairman and the Speaker of the National Assembly.

According to sources, the decision to raise the salaries of the Senate Chairman and Deputy Chairman was made by the Senate House Finance Committee, which was chaired by Yousaf Raza Gilani a few months ago. On the other hand, the increase in the salaries of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly was made under the decision of the National Assembly House Finance Committee, which was chaired by Ayaz Sadiq.

Sources say that both committee meetings took place quietly, and the decision to raise the salaries of the four key officials was made at that time.

According to sources, the government has no direct involvement in these decisions because, after the provision of the budget to the National Assembly and the Senate, they are autonomous regarding their expenses.

Sources further state that according to the law, the Prime Minister has no authority to interfere in this matter.

They added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the matter, but he can only give a message ethically or make a recommendation through the Cabinet. The final decision will be made by the financial committees of the respective houses.
