Pakistan’s Firm Stance on Pahalgam Incident Marks Diplomatic Turning Point, Says Atta Tarar

Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar has stated that Pakistan’s clear and unequivocal stance on the Pahalgam incident proved to be a significant turning point on the diplomatic front, strengthening the country’s position globally and countering what he described as India’s “baseless allegations.”

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Tarar emphasized that Pakistan presented a strong and consistent narrative regarding the Pahalgam घटना, particularly referencing the position outlined about a year ago in Kakul. He noted that this stance helped reshape the diplomatic discourse and reinforced Pakistan’s credibility at the international level.

According to the minister, Pakistan responded effectively and decisively to India’s accusations, which he termed unfounded. He highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his خطاب, described the Pahalgam incident as a tragedy and called for an end to the blame game. The prime minister also offered transparent and impartial investigations into the matter, signaling Pakistan’s willingness to cooperate and seek the truth.

Tarar pointed out that Pakistan not only expressed sympathy with the victims of the incident but also raised concerns at the global level. He claimed that India’s reaction to Pakistan’s call for an independent investigation put it on the defensive, while several countries showed support for Pakistan’s موقف.

The information minister further alleged that India has a pattern of not merely failing to condemn acts of terrorism but also being linked to their promotion. He asserted that connections of militant groups such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) could be traced back to India, a claim that India has consistently denied in international forums.

Reiterating Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism, Tarar said the country stands as a strong barrier against extremist elements and has made immense sacrifices in this ongoing struggle. He underscored that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully capable of responding to any aggression and have repeatedly demonstrated their strength and preparedness.

Referring to what he described as “Maarka-e-Haq” (the battle for truth), Tarar said that Pakistan had delivered a strong and effective response to its adversaries, proving its resilience and determination. He credited the leadership of the military, including the field marshal, for ensuring the country’s defense and maintaining stability in challenging circumstances.

The minister also stressed the unity of the Pakistani nation, stating that the entire population stands firmly behind its armed forces in safeguarding national sovereignty. He reiterated that Pakistan would not compromise on its dignity and honor under any circumstances.

Tarar added that the prime minister had made it clear that Pakistan has gained respect, dignity, and trust at the international level due to its principled stance. He also noted that overseas Pakistanis have shown increased morale and confidence as a result of the country’s diplomatic efforts.

Highlighting the broader impact of Pakistan’s position, Tarar claimed that the country’s narrative has emerged as a credible and “bright reality” on the global stage, while India’s allegations and constructed narratives failed to gain significant traction internationally. He suggested that the prime minister’s speech in Kakul would be remembered as a historic milestone in Pakistan’s diplomatic history.

The Pahalgam incident, which has been a point of contention between Pakistan and India, once again brought tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors into focus. While both sides continue to present opposing narratives, Pakistan’s leadership has emphasized dialogue, transparency, and international engagement as key elements of its approach.
