Speaking in the Senate, Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah said there was no legal provision allowing such a committee or permitting meetings to be used for political purposes. He added that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were being provided proper medical treatment and advised the opposition to approach the high court if they believed any rules had been violated.

In the National Assembly, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said meeting Imran Khan was not a political matter requiring assurances from parliament. He stated that the government was monitoring all health-related matters concerning the PTI founder.

Responding to criticism over Imran Khan being shifted to a hospital at night, the minister said medical emergencies do not occur according to fixed timings.

The issue came after opposition members protested in both the Senate and National Assembly, demanding permission to meet Imran Khan and other prisoners.

Earlier, Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas had proposed forming a joint committee of government and opposition members to arrange meetings with the PTI founder and other detainees.
