Federal Government Directs Oil Companies to Maintain 20 Days’ Oil Stock

Islamabad: (Saturday, June 21, 2025) — In the context of the Iran-Israel conflict, the federal government has issued immediate instructions to all oil companies to secure oil stock in the country to avoid any possible shortage.
The government has ordered the immediate procurement of 140 million liters of petrol.
In a letter issued by OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority), oil companies have been directed to maintain a 20-day oil reserve.
OGRA has instructed that due to the current regional situation, all oil marketing companies must ensure the availability of oil stock.
According to PSO (Pakistan State Oil) officials, following the government’s instructions, PSO has issued an emergency tender for approximately 70 million liters, and oil-carrying ships will arrive at Karachi Port within 10 days.
PSO officials stated that a ship originally scheduled to arrive on July 6 has been instructed to arrive by June 26.
According to PSO, by July 1, there will be an additional 140 million liters of oil available in the country, and considering the situation, more emergency tenders may be issued.
