Pakistan’s Hockey Olympians Demand Asia Cup Be Moved from India

Pakistan’s hockey Olympians have demanded that the upcoming Asia Cup Hockey Tournament be shifted from India to another country.

Tariq Dar, a gold medalist from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, said, “There is a state of war between India and Pakistan. They have blocked our water; how can we even think of sending our players there to compete?”

He added, “Even if the players go, the environment they will be given will feel like imprisonment — and how can athletes perform in such a state?”

Olympian Tauqeer Dar further stated that the Asia Cup must be moved to a neutral venue. “If it is not shifted entirely, then at least Pakistan’s matches should be played at a neutral venue,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Olympian Khawaja Junaid remarked that decisions about going to India for the Asia Cup should align with whatever the government decides. “We are currently in a state of war with India — the current situation is unprecedented,” he said.

He emphasized that a neutral venue should be the top priority and added, “Just like PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi took a firm stance, the Pakistan Hockey Federation should also demand neutral venues for Pakistan’s matches. If that is not accepted, then the entire tournament should be relocated from India.”Tools
