Erdogan Praises Trump’s Commitment to Iran Peace Efforts at NATO Gathering

ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s commitment to efforts aimed at achieving peace with Iran, describing his stance as encouraging.

Speaking at a NATO meeting in Ankara, Erdogan said European allies should assume a greater share of responsibility for the alliance’s collective defence.

The Turkish president said that President Trump’s determined approach toward peace efforts with Iran was noteworthy and expressed appreciation for the support Türkiye received from its allies during the Iran conflict.

Erdogan thanked the United States, Spain, Germany and Italy for providing additional air defence assistance during the conflict involving Iran.

He also stressed the need for greater international cooperation in combating terrorism.

“We must stand united against all forms of terrorism,” Erdogan said.

His remarks came amid continued regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic discussions involving Iran and NATO member states.
