PDMA issues alert for next spell of monsoon rains
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for next spell of monsoon rains across the province from tomorrow until 21 August.
Acording to details, rain is likely in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Attock, Sialkot, Narowal and Mandi Bahauddin. The forecast also covers Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad and Wazirabad, according to the PDMA spokesman. Rain is also expected in Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali and Noorpur Thal.
Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan may receive rain on August 20 and 21.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority warned of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Lahore because of heavy rain. There is also a risk of landslides in Murree, Galiyat and other hilly areas.
