Veteran Pakistani actor Mohsin Gillani has made a significant revelation regarding yet another tragic death in the entertainment industry. Following the recent discoveries of the decomposed bodies of actresses Ayesha Khan and Humaira Asghar from their respective apartments in Karachi, Gillani disclosed that a prominent showbiz figure, director Javed Fazil, was also found dead under similar circumstances in his flat years ago.

Gillani made this revelation during a recent appearance on a podcast, where he candidly spoke about various topics concerning the entertainment industry, including its evolution, struggles of artists, and the often-lonely lives they lead. When asked about the shocking incidents of Ayesha Khan and Humaira Asghar’s bodies being recovered from flats long after their deaths, he recalled the tragic end of director Javed Fazil—a name he believes the current generation may not remember, but one that left a lasting mark on Pakistan’s film and television history.

“People may have forgotten, but Javed Fazil was a very big name in our industry. His body, too, was found in a flat in Karachi, and the door had to be broken down,” Gillani said. He narrated that Fazil, known for directing several acclaimed dramas and films, had returned to his flat late at night after a shooting session. The next day, he was expected to be back on set for another shoot, but he never arrived.

At first, the cast and crew assumed the director was simply running late, a common occurrence in the industry. However, when a significant amount of time passed and no communication came from his end, concerns began to rise. The producer, worried about the delay and halted production, began making phone calls to check on him.

Eventually, when he didn’t even show up for breakfast or answer his phone, the crew contacted the building management. Upon forcibly entering the apartment, they discovered Javed Fazil’s lifeless body. According to Gillani, “It was only because of the drama shoot that there was so much noise and concern about his absence; otherwise, who knows how long it would have taken for someone to realize he was gone.”

This incident, as described by Gillani, highlights the unfortunate reality of how many in the entertainment industry, despite their fame and past glory, often end up living in solitude, away from family, with little to no immediate support network.

Javed Fazil passed away in 2010. He was living alone in a flat located in the upscale Defence area of Karachi. During his prime, Fazil was known for his exceptional storytelling and direction, having contributed to both television dramas and feature films. His sudden death, and the manner in which his body was found, barely received the public attention it deserved—a fact that still bothers his former colleagues and admirers.

Mohsin Gillani’s revelation serves as a grim reminder of how quickly even the most prominent figures in showbiz can fade from public memory and how many of them face loneliness in their final days. “This industry glorifies you when you’re on the screen,” Gillani noted. “But once you’re out of the spotlight, you’re almost forgotten.”

Gillani’s remarks come in the wake of two other disturbing cases that shook Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Senior actress Ayesha Khan, who had reportedly withdrawn from the limelight, was found dead in her flat in Karachi last week. Initial reports revealed that her body was at least a week old when discovered. The cause of her death remains uncertain, and the police are investigating.

Even more disturbing was the case of actress and model Humaira Asghar, whose severely decomposed body was found in her apartment in Karachi. Authorities estimated that her body had been lying there for 9 to 10 months. Her tragic and lonely death raised serious questions about how isolated some individuals in showbiz can become over time.

Both incidents sparked intense discussions on social media about the vulnerability of artists, particularly women, in the entertainment world. Many users expressed heartbreak over the fact that their deaths went unnoticed for so long, urging for more community building and support mechanisms within the industry.

These revelations paint a somber picture of the entertainment industry, where glamour and recognition often overshadow the deep loneliness that some celebrities experience off-screen. Fame, as many insiders say, is fleeting. Once an artist steps away from the limelight, the industry—and often even close friends—move on quickly.

Many artists, especially those who do not maintain strong family ties or social networks, find themselves aging in solitude. With limited income sources in later years and health concerns, their lives become increasingly difficult. The deaths of Javed Fazil, Ayesha Khan, and Humaira Asghar expose the grim truth that many in showbiz die quietly and are forgotten too soon.

Mohsin Gillani’s revelations are more than just recollections of unfortunate events—they serve as a wake-up call for the Pakistani entertainment fraternity. His message seems to be clear: there is a dire need to build a support system for aging or out-of-work actors, directors, and crew members. There should be welfare mechanisms, helplines, and regular check-ins by associations or unions to ensure the well-being of those who once served the industry with passion and talent.

In an industry that often thrives on image and public perception, there’s little room for acknowledging personal struggles, mental health issues, or financial instability. Changing that culture is crucial—not just to honor the contributions of veterans but to protect the next generation from meeting similar fates.

As more celebrities and media outlets pick up on these conversations, there is hope that Gillani’s revelations and the recent tragedies will not be in vain. Perhaps, they will trigger policy discussions, union reforms, and community action that bring meaningful change.

For now, though, the industry mourns another reminder of how cruel solitude can be, especially for those who once lived under the bright lights but were ultimately left in the dark.
