A violent clash broke out between two groups of the Bhan community in Nawaziah Bhan village over a dispute concerning sewage drainage, leaving a brother and sister injured. The injured individuals, identified as Atta Mustafa Bhan and his sister, later staged a protest in front of the local press club demanding justice and police action against the alleged attackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While speaking to journalists during the protest, the victims accused three individuals\u2014Molvi Sardar Bhan, Mubeen Bhan, and Mateen Bhan\u2014of deliberately blocking the drainage line connected to their home by placing bricks and stones inside the sewer. According to them, the drain in question is part of the public infrastructure and is essential for the sewage disposal of the entire village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Atta Mustafa Bhan stated that when they attempted to remove the obstruction from the sewerage line, the accused persons launched a physical assault on them. \u201cThey attacked us with axes and shovels when we tried to clear the blockage,\u201d he said. \u201cMy sister and I both sustained injuries. It was a brutal and unprovoked attack.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the disputed drain and street are public property, not private land, and it is unjust for any group to claim control over it. \u201cThe entire village relies on this sewage line. Blocking it creates not just a personal inconvenience but a public health hazard. Their actions are both unlawful and inhumane.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the incident, a formal complaint (NC) was lodged at the Tharo Shah Police Station. However, the victims expressed disappointment and frustration over the lack of response from the police. \u201cDespite the severity of the assault, the police have not taken any meaningful action. The accused are not only roaming free but are also threatening us with further harm,\u201d said the injured sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protesting siblings called upon senior authorities, including the SSP of Naushahro Feroze and the District and Sessions Judge, to intervene in the matter. They urged that a thorough investigation be launched and that the attackers be arrested and prosecuted without delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur lives are in danger. We are being punished for demanding a basic right\u2014the right to proper sanitation,\u201d said Atta Mustafa. \u201cThe accused have influence and connections, which is why the police are hesitant to act. But we will not be silenced. We demand protection and justice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community members who witnessed the protest expressed solidarity with the victims, stating that misuse of power and local influence to block public infrastructure must be condemned. They also called for stricter action against those who violate communal harmony for personal gains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the protest continues to draw public attention, civil society activists have also taken note of the case. Some local NGOs working on sanitation and human rights issues have expressed concern over the misuse of public spaces and the lack of prompt police response in rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legal experts have pointed out that obstruction of public infrastructure, especially in a way that endangers health and safety, constitutes a criminal offense under multiple sections of law. They stressed that inaction from law enforcement can further embolden perpetrators and encourage a culture of impunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victims have vowed to continue their struggle until the accused are brought to justice. They reiterated that their protest is not politically motivated but purely driven by the need to ensure basic rights and personal safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, residents of Nawaziah Bhan village are now facing additional problems due to the blocked sewer line, including stagnant water, foul odors, and the risk of disease outbreaks. Several families have called for a government-led inspection of the sewer system and immediate restoration of the blocked line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their appeal to district authorities, the injured brother and sister demanded not only the arrest of those responsible for the attack but also compensation for medical expenses and damage to their home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of now, there has been no official statement from the Tharo Shah police regarding the reasons for their inaction. However, the increasing pressure from media coverage and public protest may compel the authorities to take decisive action in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident highlights ongoing challenges in rural governance, where disputes over public utilities often turn violent, and justice is hard to access for those without political or social clout. The case has sparked a wider conversation in the district about equitable access to public resources, the role of the police, and the need for community-level conflict resolution mechanisms backed by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victims concluded their press interaction with a powerful message: \u201cWe are not asking for favors\u2014we are asking for our rights.
