{"id":7841,"date":"2025-07-12T11:17:39","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T06:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=7841"},"modified":"2025-07-12T11:17:41","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T06:17:41","slug":"pml-n-files-petition-to-administer-oath-to-members-elected-on-reserved-seats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=7841","title":{"rendered":"PML-N Files Petition to Administer Oath to Members Elected on Reserved Seats"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)<\/strong> has filed a petition in the <strong>Peshawar High Court<\/strong> seeking the administration of oath to members elected on <strong>reserved seats<\/strong> in the <strong>Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response to the delay in administering the oath, the PML-N&#8217;s nominated members for reserved seats have also sent a letter to the <strong>Election Commission<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the letter, <strong>six women and one minority member<\/strong> stated that <strong>delaying tactics<\/strong> are being used to <strong>prevent them from taking the oath<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The letter noted that the Election Commission issued the final list of elected members on <strong>July 2<\/strong>, and under the <strong>Constitution of 1973<\/strong>, it is mandatory to take an <strong>oath before participating in the assembly and casting a vote<\/strong>. The <strong>Supreme Court<\/strong> had already issued relevant orders regarding reserved seats on <strong>June 27<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The letter further mentioned that <strong>multiple requests<\/strong> have been made to the <strong>Speaker of the KP Assembly<\/strong> to administer the oath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It added that the <strong>Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court<\/strong> has the authority to nominate someone to administer the oath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The letter urged the <strong>Election Commission<\/strong> to approach the <strong>Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court<\/strong> and request a nomination under <strong>Article 255<\/strong> of the Constitution for administering the oath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is worth noting that <strong>Senate elections<\/strong> in <strong>Khyber Pakhtunkhwa<\/strong> are scheduled for <strong>July 21<\/strong>.Tools<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court seeking the administration of oath to members elected on reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
