The import strategy this time reflects an improved approach compared to the past, where <strong>artificial shortages<\/strong> were often created to justify subsidies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry further explained that the decision to export sugar was made at a time when there was an <strong>abundant supply<\/strong>, but now sugar is being imported to bring stability to current price fluctuations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rising Sugar Prices<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, in <strong>Karachi\u2019s wholesale market<\/strong>, the price of sugar has reached <strong>Rs 179 per kg<\/strong>, increasing by <strong>Rs 3 per kg<\/strong> just after Ashura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since <strong>May 15<\/strong>, sugar prices in Karachi&#8217;s wholesale market have increased by <strong>Rs 13 per kg<\/strong>, while in the <strong>retail market<\/strong>, sugar is being sold between <strong>Rs 190 and Rs 200 per kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 15, retail sugar was priced at <strong>Rs 170 per kg<\/strong>, meaning prices have surged by <strong>Rs 20 to Rs 30 per kg<\/strong> in less than two months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To control the rising price of sugar, the federal government has finalized the decision to import 500,000 tons of sugar.
