Karachi:<\/strong> Another body has been recovered from the debris of a collapsed building in Lyari, raising the death toll to 17<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to rescue officials, the operation is ongoing at the site and debris is being removed with extreme caution. There are still fears that more people may be trapped under the rubble, which could further increase the number of casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rescue authorities reported that three more bodies<\/strong> have been pulled from the debris so far today. The total number of deceased has now reached 17<\/strong>, including 10 men and 6 women<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner (DC) South, Javed Khoso, stated during a media briefing that the rescue operation may take another 8 to 10 hours<\/strong>. He added that the next phase of the operation is being carried out with great care, and there is still a possibility that 10 to 12 people<\/strong> remain trapped under the debris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He also revealed that the collapsed building had been declared dangerous three years ago<\/strong>, and a notice was issued about a month and a half ago<\/strong>. He said there are still 22 highly dangerous buildings<\/strong> in Lyari, 16 of which have already been vacated<\/strong>, and efforts are ongoing to evacuate the remaining ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A relative of the female owner of the collapsed five-storey residential building<\/strong> said that each floor had three apartments<\/strong>, and the building was always fully occupied whenever they visited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In an interview with Geo News, he shared that his family members lived on the fourth floor<\/strong>.
