However, the silent and voiceless salaried class in the country deposited more tax into the national treasury during the last fiscal year than the combined payments of exporters and retailers. Regarding action against tax-evading traders, the FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) has stated that strict measures will yield results very soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to details, the FBR collected a historic amount of Rs545 billion in income tax from the salaried class during the fiscal year 2024-25. This made them the largest contributors among all sectors in terms of direct taxes. In comparison, exporters paid only Rs180 billion, and traders paid Rs62 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The salaried class\u2019s contribution in income tax was 300% more than politically influential traders and 500% more than exporters. Even though exporters earn in dollars, they only paid Rs180 billion in taxes. Traders, who are considered linked with every political party, paid only Rs62 billion under Sections 236G and 236H of the Income Tax Ordinance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to top officials, the salaried class, collectively, paid more than double the income tax compared to the combined payments of exporters and traders during the last fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the fiscal year 2023-24, the salaried class had paid Rs367 billion in tax, which increased to Rs545 billion in 2024-25 \u2014 showing a rise of Rs178 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also noteworthy that the business-friendly scheme introduced for traders (TDS \u2013 Traders\u2019 Documentation Scheme) failed during the last fiscal year, as traders did not participate in it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad (Thursday, July 3, 2025): Despite grand claims, the business-friendly scheme introduced in Pakistan has failed.
