I don&#8217;t want to cite Hiroshima or Nagasaki as examples, but that\u2019s what happened then.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is worth recalling that in August 1945, the U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing approximately 140,000 people. Survivors from both cities continue to suffer psychological trauma and face elevated cancer risks to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responding to Trump\u2019s remarks, Nagasaki Mayor Shiro Suzuki said:<br><em>&#8220;If the U.S. President tried to justify the use of atomic bombs through his statement, that is extremely regrettable for our city.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Japan&#8217;s national TV, one of the atomic bomb survivors, Mimaki Toshiyuki \u2013 affiliated with a Nobel Peace Prize-winning group \u2013 described Trump\u2019s statement as &#8220;unacceptable.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another member of the same group, Teruko Yokoyama, told local media:<br><em>&#8220;I am deeply disappointed.
