ISLAMABAD: Prominent human rights activist and lawyer Imaan Mazari-Hazir was bestowed with the WEXFO Young Inspiration Award at the World Expression Forum (WEXFO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new prize was awarded to a young voice and activist who has made an extraordinary contribution to youth freedom of expression in Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year\u2019s conference marked the first time the award was presented. The 2021 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Maria Ressa, announced the winner during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imaan Mazari is a prominent human rights lawyer from Pakistan who fights for freedom of expression, the rule of law, and justice for marginalized groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has taken on high-risk cases, stood firm in the face of threats and persecution, and become a role model for young lawyers and human rights defenders both in her home country and internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a deep honor for me to receive this award. And most significantly the recognition of the work that I do in Pakistan, amplifies these causes on the international stage. It means a lot to me \u2013 and the people that I represent in the courts every day \u2013 for this work to be recognized and for our causes to be understood and appreciated on the international stage,\u201d commented Mazari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
