{"id":5267,"date":"2025-05-08T22:50:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T17:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=5267"},"modified":"2025-05-08T22:50:11","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T17:50:11","slug":"pakistan-reserves-right-to-self-defence-pm-shehbaz-tells-us-secretary-of-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=5267","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan reserves right to self defence, PM Shehbaz tells US secretary of state"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>PM Shehbaz condemns India\u2019s missile, drone strikes.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India\u2019s attack violates Pakistan\u2019s sovereignty, jeopardising peace in South Asia.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Secretary Rubio emphasises upon need for both countries to work closely to de-escalate situation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif informed&nbsp;US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday that Pakistan has the right to act in self-defence \u201cin accordance with Article-51 of the UN Charter&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, PM Shehbaz strongly condemned India\u2019s missile and drone strikes that killed 31 innocent civilians, injured 57 others and damaged civilian infrastructure,&nbsp;according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">India\u2019s attacks had violated Pakistan\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while gravely jeopardising peace and stability in the South Asia region, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s firm resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, he said that the people of Pakistan were outraged by India\u2019s unprovoked acts of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also appreciated President Trump\u2019s concern over the current security situation in South Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Secretary Rubio noted that the U.S. was closely following the situation in South Asia as it was committed to promoting peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To this end, he emphasised the need for both Pakistan and India to work closely to de-escalate the situation. Both sides agreed to remain in touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">India launched strikes on Pakistan and AJK early Wednesday morning \u2014 an assault that Islamabad called a &#8220;blatant act of war&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Islamabad said six Pakistani locations, from mosques to hydropower projects, were targeted.
