{"id":4903,"date":"2025-04-30T18:08:20","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T13:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=4903"},"modified":"2025-04-30T18:08:22","modified_gmt":"2025-04-30T13:08:22","slug":"iran-says-next-nuclear-talks-with-us-set-for-saturday-in-rome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=4903","title":{"rendered":"Iran says next nuclear talks with US set for Saturday in Rome"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Oman-mediated nuclear talks mark highest contact in years.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Next negotiation round set to take place in Rome.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Iran demands focus on sanctions, rejects threats and pressure.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iran and the United States will hold a fourth round of talks on the Islamic republic&#8217;s nuclear programme in Rome on Saturday, Iran&#8217;s foreign minister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The longtime adversaries have held three rounds of talks aiming for a deal on the programme, which the West believes is intended to develop nuclear weapons \u2014 an allegation Tehran denies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The talks, which began on April 12 and are mediated by Oman, are the highest-level contact in years between the two sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The next round of negotiations will take place in Rome,&#8221; Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The top diplomat said Iranian officials would also meet on Friday with representatives from Britain, France and Germany \u2014 all parties to the 2015 nuclear deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deal called for the lifting of sanctions in exchange for curbing Iran&#8217;s nuclear activities, but fell apart when Washington withdrew from it in 2018 during Donald Trump&#8217;s first term as US president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After France threatened that the European trio could reimpose sanctions, Iran&#8217;s UN mission said that &#8220;threats and economic blackmail&#8221; were &#8220;entirely unacceptable&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Genuine diplomacy cannot proceed under threats or pressure,&#8221; the diplomatic mission said in a letter carried Wednesday by Iran&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>ISNA<\/em>&nbsp;news agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump sent a letter in March to Iran&#8217;s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urging talks and warning of possible military action if Iran refused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since he returned to office in January, Trump revived his &#8220;maximum pressure&#8221; sanctions campaign, mirroring his approach during his first term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tehran has insisted that the ongoing talks should be solely focused on the nuclear issue and the lifting of sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the last round in the Omani capital Muscat on Saturday, both sides reported progress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Iran and the United States will hold a fourth round of talks on the Islamic republic&#8217;s nuclear programme in Rome on Saturday, Iran&#8217;s foreign minister said.
