{"id":4467,"date":"2025-04-23T01:40:18","date_gmt":"2025-04-22T20:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=4467"},"modified":"2025-04-23T01:40:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T20:40:20","slug":"indian-filmmaker-explains-bollywoods-box-office-slump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=4467","title":{"rendered":"Indian filmmaker explains Bollywood\u2019s box office slump"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Indian filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has shared his thoughts on the recent slump in the box office performance of Bollywood films.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Best known for films such as \u2018Ghulam\u2019 and \u2018Raaz,\u2019 the filmmaker drew a comparison between the Hindi film industry and South cinema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a recent interview with an Indian media outlet, Vikram Bhatt suggested that Bollywood was facing a decline as makers have stopped making \u2018massy\u2019 films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEveryone forgot the masses and went to niche films. And during COVID, the audience\u2019s habit of watching films in theatres disappeared. We stopped making massy films,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the notable filmmaker, the Hindi film industry has been ignoring fans of mass entertainers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNiche audience says the movie will come on OTT or television soon\u2026the mass audience, we ignored them completely. But the South film industry did not do that. They always made movies for the masses, and that\u2019s why South movies are successful,\u201d Vikram Bhatt said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added, \u201cThey [audience] still consider the villain a villain, still whistle and clap. Hum toh waisi films banana bhul gaye jise dekhkar audience seeti aur taaliya bajaye (we forgot to make films which get whistles and applause from the audience).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The filmmaker was of the view that his counterparts in the South cinema give more importance to content than star cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis whole problem can be solved in a minute if music companies, digital and satellite companies start giving this message that we need good songs, we need good pictures.
