{"id":4123,"date":"2025-04-17T15:27:24","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T10:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=4123"},"modified":"2025-04-17T15:27:27","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T10:27:27","slug":"pakistan-bangladesh-hold-foreign-secretary-meeting-after-15-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=4123","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan, Bangladesh hold foreign secretary meeting after 15 years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Foreign secretaries of both countries lead delegations in consultative meeting.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch arrives in Dhaka on two-day visit.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expected to visit Bangladesh in last week of April.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Foreign secretary-level meeting between Pakistan and Bangladesh started in Dhaka Thursday morning, which marks the first such diplomatic engagement between the two countries after 15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pakistan&#8217;s Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch led her delegation during the talks, while Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin led Bangladesh&#8217;s delegation at State Guest House Padma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Strengthening mutual interests and consideration of bilateral relations were the highlights of the talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bangladesh side also hosted lunch for Pakistan&#8217;s foreign secreatary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, Amna Baloch also met with Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh Mohammed Tohid Hussain during the talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amna arrived in Dhaka yesterday on a two-day visit to attend the Foreign Office Consultation (FOC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to&nbsp;<em>The Daily Star<\/em>, after the FOC, Amna will also call on Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain. She will also attend an interaction with the think-tanks and Pakistani diaspora in Dhaka in the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to visit Bangladesh in the last week of April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the fall of the Awami League-led government on August 5 last year, relations between both the countries have been warming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Yunus met twice since then: first on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in September last year and later at the D-8 summit in Cairo in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bangladesh has eased visa rules for Pakistani nationals since then and launched direct shipping.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Pakistan is keen to organise cultural exchange and boost trade, tourism and investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Pakistan sees potential for boosting exports to Bangladesh, especially if their products are price competitive,&#8221; said Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Iqbal Hussain Khan, who is now in Dhaka for the meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Foreign secretary-level meeting between Pakistan and Bangladesh started in Dhaka Thursday morning, which marks the first such diplomatic engagement between the two countries after 15 years.
