Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has expressed hope that the Margalla Road extension project and Sangjani Interchange will be completed within the next few weeks, improving travel facilities for residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Speaking to the media near Sangjani during a visit to review construction work on the project on Thursday night, the minister said Iran Avenue was being connected to the motorway to facilitate commuters, particularly those travelling from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and passengers heading to the airport.

He said the new interchange would enable travellers to reach their destinations more conveniently and reduce difficulties for commuters using the route.

Naqvi said the project’s target completion date was April, but expressed optimism that the work could be completed within the next few weeks.

He directed the relevant authorities to further accelerate construction activities to ensure the project’s timely completion.

The interior minister also announced plans to launch a major project for the restoration of the Shakarparian forest, saying thousands of trees would be planted around the Margalla Road extension project and its adjoining areas.

He further announced plans to develop a safari park in Islamabad, saying the facility would attract visitors from across Pakistan as well as international tourists.

Naqvi said the proposed safari park would provide a major recreational attraction, adding that foreign tourists could spend one or two days at the facility during their visits to Pakistan.

He expressed hope that the project would become a popular destination for families and tourists, reducing the need for Pakistanis to travel abroad for similar recreational experiences.
