The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday has extended by two days the last date for filing nomination papers in local government elections in Islamabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The date was extended from November 6 to 8, according to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Candidates can now submit their nomination papers until 4pm on November 8 (Sunday).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Friday with the fifth day for filing the nominations whereas the ECP has issued 6,065 nomination papers while 669 candidates have submitted their papers so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ECP has directed that candidates can submit their nomination papers along with complete documents to the relevant returning officers.
Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers until November 25, while election symbols will be allotted on November 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the upcoming polls, Islamabad has been divided into 125 union councils, with 16 returning officers assigned to receive nomination papers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Polling is scheduled for December 20, while preliminary results will be compiled from December 21 to 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The local government elections in Islamabad are being conducted under the 2015 law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
