Pakistani actress Sahar Hashmi has called out the double standards surrounding professionalism in the entertainment industry, highlighting how artists are expected to meet strict deadlines while delayed payments are often excused as routine administrative matters.

Taking to her Instagram Story, the actress shared a pointed message about the unequal expectations placed on artists and production houses, drawing attention to an issue that affects actors and other creative professionals.

“Kaam 1 din late ho toh ‘unprofessional’. Payment 30 din late ho toh ‘accounts mein process chal raha hai’. Professionalism dono taraf se hota hai,” her message read.

Through her statement, Sahar highlighted the contrast between how artists and employers are held accountable. According to her message, an artist who submits work even a day late may quickly be labelled unprofessional, whereas a payment delayed by 30 days can be dismissed with the explanation that it is still being processed by the accounts department.

Her remarks underline the importance of mutual responsibility and fairness in professional relationships. While artists are expected to honour commitments and deliver their work on time, production houses should also ensure that payments are made within the agreed timeframe.

Sahar’s message serves as a reminder that professionalism cannot be a one-sided expectation. Timely payments, clear communication and respect for contractual commitments are equally important to maintaining a fair working environment for everyone involved in the entertainment business.

The actress has recently appeared in dramas including Zanjeerain and Dar-e-Nijaat, continuing her work in Pakistani television.
