Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has said that 24 million people are benefitting from the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, he said this scheme provides one hundred rupees per litre discount on petrol for owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and small cars up to 800cc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said this is a targeted subsidy and has been implemented across the country. He mentioned the simple and transparent process introduced for registration in the scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tariq Fazal Chaudhary said the government has also taken austerity measures in view of the current situation including a fifty percent reduction in fuel allocation for official vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Responding to a question about the planned protests by some political parties, he said the government will fulfill its responsibility of maintaining law and order in the federal capital territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
