The risk of a wheat shortage is growing in Balochistan as government warehouses currently have no wheat stocks, raising concerns about supplies in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Food Department, the Balochistan government has approved the purchase of 500,000 bags of wheat to meet the province\u2019s requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the Finance Department has yet to release the funds needed for the purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials said that once the funds become available, the purchase of wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) will be finalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Food Department said it would take around one month to purchase the wheat and transport it to local government warehouses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until then, the province could face supply pressures if it does not act quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
