A judge of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday recused himself from hearing the petition filed against the Anti-Terrorism Amendment Bill, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Justice Amjad Pervaiz said that he was the advocate general, Punjab at the time of drafting of the bill, and sent file of the bill to the chief justice of the LHC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yousaf Wain Advocate, the petitioner, had prayed to the court to declare the legislation unconstitutional, arguing that an article of the bill reading that the identity of the judge, prosecutors and witnesses would not be disclosed was in conflict with the constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plaintiff had also said that some of the articles of the bill were against the basic human rights; therefore, it was prayed to the court to declare it null and void.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
