Pakistan has categorically rejected India\u2019s baseless assertions regarding the status of Jammu and Kashmir which are totally against the internationally-recognized facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan stated this while responding to media queries regarding the statement issued by India\u2019s Ministry of External Affairs on the map of disputed Jammu and Kashmir region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement issued in Islamabad on Monday morning, Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPakistan categorically rejects India\u2019s baseless assertions regarding the status of Jammu and Kashmir which are contrary to internationally-recognized facts. India\u2019s unilateral actions and continued illegal occupation cannot alter the internationally-recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJammu and Kashmir dispute remains one of the oldest unresolved, internationally recognized disputes on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council. The relevant UN resolutions stipulate that its final disposition must be made in accordance with the relevant Security Council resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people, expressed through a free and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe official United Nations maps, which depict Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory, remain the only cartographic representation of its current legal status. India\u2019s so-called official maps and unilateral claims of sovereignty have no bearing on the status of the disputed territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPakistan urges the international community to ensure that India immediately stops human rights violations in the Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and fulfils its commitment towards the realisation of the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people, in line with the relevant UNSC resolutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reaction by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs came a day after India\u2019s Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement regarding the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh after backing the African Union’s resolution to \u201crebalance\u201d the world map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Delhi’s assertion came two days after it voted in favour of a UN General Assembly resolution aimed at \u201ccorrecting\u201d the world map to promote a more accurate representation of continental landmasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
