Sukkur(H.O) Sindh Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho visited Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College & Civil Hospital Sukkur and formally inaugurated the 50-bed modern Trauma & Emergency Response Centre (T&ERC) established under the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma. On this occasion, she also launched the anti-polio booster dose campaign by administering polio drops to children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Present on the occasion were MNA Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Spokesperson for the Sindh Government and Mayor of Sukkur Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh, Commissioner Sukkur Abid Saleem Qureshi, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shahzad Khan, MS Civil Hospital Sukkur Dr Ahmad Mujtaba Memon, Principal of Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Dr. Saleh Mohammad Channa, Director Health Dr Farrukh Bhanbhro, District Health Officer Dr. Ali Gul Shah, along with senior health department officials and other relevant authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the inauguration, the Provincial Health Minister conducted a detailed inspection of various departments of the Trauma & Emergency Response Centre. She reviewed the X-ray unit, minor operation theatre, emergency wards, and other modern medical facilities, and directed the relevant officials to ensure the provision of timely, quality, and uninterrupted medical services to patients under all circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the ceremony, Principal Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Dr. Saleh Chana said that approximately six thousand patients visit the hospital’s OPD daily, while the institution’s current budget of Rs. 400 million is insufficient for this load. He stated that due to the closure of M&R funds and non-release of the revised budget, the institution is facing financial difficulties. He requested the Provincial Health Minister to provide additional funds for the hospital and medical college so that better and improved medical facilities could be provided to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sindh Government Spokesperson and Mayor of Sukkur Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh, in his address, said that the Pakistan Peoples Party is taking practical steps to provide modern medical facilities and basic services to the public. He said that the establishment of SICVD, Children’s Hospital, SIUT and other modern medical institutions is a practical manifestation of the government’s people-friendly policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MNA Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah said that the Pakistan Peoples Party has completed historic projects in the health sector that have been appreciated at the international level. He said that GIMS, SICVD, the CyberKnife facility at Jinnah Hospital Karachi, Children’s Hospital, and various trauma centres are shining examples of the best medical facilities provided to the public. He further said that Sukkur is an important trade and communication hub connecting Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab, and due to the motorway, traffic pressure here also remains high. In such a situation, the modern Trauma & Emergency Response Centre will play a vital role in providing timely and effective medical aid to victims of road accidents and other emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, in her address, said that Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah has always played a prominent role in public welfare, especially in the development of the health sector in Sukkur. She said that the establishment of modern institutions like SICVD, Children’s Hospital, and SIUT is the result of his continuous efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Noting the shortage of manpower and qualified faculty at Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho directed the relevant authorities to immediately submit a summary in this regard so that, after consultation with the Chief Minister of Sindh, additional teaching and medical staff could be provided to the college. She expressed her resolve that the Sindh Government will continue all possible measures to provide modern, quality, and timely medical facilities to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, while talking to the media, Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho said that the establishment of the Trauma Centre in Sukkur is basically a 50-bed facility for the treatment of people affected by various accidents, and it will be further expanded in the future because Sukkur holds a central position due to its proximity to several districts of Punjab as well as Sindh. Responding to a question, the Provincial Minister said that if MRI and CT scan machines are not repaired in time, they are such equipment that gets damaged repeatedly or quickly. She further said that the entire radiology department, including CT scan and MRI, will be outsourced so that such complaints at Civil Hospital Sukkur can be addressed. In response to another question, the Provincial Minister said that due to the intensity of heat caused by climate change, air conditioning facilities are indispensable for patients, and efforts will be made to provide this facility to patients in the hospital.#<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
