{"id":24280,"date":"2026-07-08T19:08:49","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T14:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=24280"},"modified":"2026-07-08T19:08:49","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T14:08:49","slug":"punjab-to-launch-apna-ghar-mehfooz-ghar-initiative-to-prevent-building-collapse-incidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=24280","title":{"rendered":"Punjab to Launch \u2018Apna Ghar, Mehfooz Ghar\u2019 Initiative to Prevent Building Collapse Incidents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LAHORE:<\/strong> Punjab Chief Minister <strong>Maryam Nawaz<\/strong> has approved the introduction of a new housing support category, <strong>\u201cApna Ghar, Mehfooz Ghar\u201d (My Home, Safe Home)<\/strong>, aimed at strengthening unsafe residential buildings and preventing tragedies similar to the recent building collapse in Kahna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the chief minister to review progress on the government&#8217;s <strong>\u201cApni Chhat, Apna Ghar\u201d (My Roof, My Home)<\/strong> housing programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that <strong>Rs217.8 billion<\/strong> had been released for the implementation of the housing scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interest-Free Loans for Housing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to an official statement, the meeting approved <strong>interest-free loans<\/strong> on easy instalments for <strong>more than 180,000 homeless families<\/strong> under the flagship housing programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement added that homeowners living in <strong>dilapidated or structurally unsafe houses<\/strong> would be eligible for <strong>financial assistance of Rs500,000<\/strong> to strengthen and improve their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, individuals planning to <strong>construct a new house or add another floor<\/strong> to an existing home will be able to obtain <strong>interest-free loans of up to Rs1 million<\/strong> through affordable instalment plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Focus on Safer Housing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking during the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government would assist citizens in making weak and unsafe buildings structurally secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She emphasized that negligence in the implementation of the provincial government&#8217;s flagship development projects would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chief minister also directed officials to ensure that low-income families are not burdened financially and instructed that <strong>the existing eligibility criteria and loan procedures should not be made more difficult<\/strong> for applicants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said effective governance is demonstrated through practical measures rather than statements, stressing that timely action is essential during times of crisis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the introduction of a new housing support category, \u201cApna Ghar, Mehfooz Ghar\u201d (My Home, Safe Home), aimed at strengthening unsafe residential buildings and preventing tragedies similar to the recent building collapse in Kahna.
