{"id":24239,"date":"2026-07-07T20:41:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T15:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=24239"},"modified":"2026-07-07T20:41:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T15:41:13","slug":"petroleum-minister-says-public-will-benefit-if-global-fuel-prices-decline-further","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=24239","title":{"rendered":"Petroleum Minister Says Public Will Benefit if Global Fuel Prices Decline Further"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Islamabad:<\/strong> Federal Petroleum Minister <strong>Ali Pervaiz Malik<\/strong> has said the government will pass on the benefit to consumers if international petroleum prices decline further, while explaining that imported petrol remains significantly more expensive than before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to the media at <strong>Parliament House<\/strong>, the minister said he had presented all relevant facts before the <strong>National Assembly&#8217;s Standing Committee on Petroleum<\/strong> regarding the country&#8217;s fuel pricing situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ali Pervaiz Malik noted that although <strong>global crude oil prices<\/strong> have returned to levels seen before the recent conflict that disrupted energy markets, the price of <strong>refined petrol imported by Pakistan<\/strong> remains substantially higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the petrol imported into Pakistan is still around <strong>US$15 per barrel more expensive<\/strong> than it was before the conflict, despite the recovery in crude oil prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The minister explained that Pakistan imports approximately <strong>70 to 80 percent<\/strong> of its petrol requirements, making domestic fuel prices heavily dependent on international market conditions and import costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Petrol is already coming to us at a higher price,&#8221; he said, adding that this was one of the key reasons why fuel prices have not fallen in line with crude oil prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that whenever financial conditions allowed, the government had provided relief to consumers. He said Prime Minister <strong>Shehbaz Sharif<\/strong> had previously reduced petrol prices by <strong>Rs70 to Rs80 per litre<\/strong> when sufficient fiscal space became available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reiterated that the government remains committed to passing on the benefits of any future reduction in international petroleum prices to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;If prices in the global market decline further, the benefit will be transferred to consumers,&#8221; the minister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His remarks came amid continued public concern over fuel prices and the broader impact of energy costs on inflation and household expenses.
