The court found that between <strong>1993 and 2023<\/strong>, he abused his official position to receive massive sums of money and valuable assets in exchange for granting favors to businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court ruled that Yang accepted bribes in return for approving development projects, facilitating business operations, allocating land, and arranging investment and financial support for companies seeking government assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to bribery, the court convicted Yang of several other offenses, including <strong>embezzlement of public funds, offering bribes, misuse of public money, abuse of official authority, and money laundering<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the judgment, Yang admitted to the charges during his final statement before the court and expressed remorse for his actions. The court considered his confession as part of the judicial proceedings but concluded that the scale and seriousness of the crimes warranted the harshest punishment under Chinese law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court also ordered the confiscation of <strong>all of Yang&#8217;s personal assets<\/strong> and directed that the full amount of the illicit gains be recovered by the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">China has maintained an extensive anti-corruption campaign in recent years, targeting officials at various levels of government.
