{"id":23018,"date":"2026-06-25T20:10:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T15:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=23018"},"modified":"2026-06-25T20:10:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T15:10:08","slug":"mqm-urges-pm-for-a-robust-local-government-system-rana-sana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakjazbo.com\/?p=23018","title":{"rendered":"MQM urges PM for a robust local government system: Rana Sana"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ISLAMABAD: Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday said that MQM leaders in a meeting with prime minister stressed for a robust local government system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A veteran of PML-N and Political Adviser to PM, Rana Sanaullah speaking in the parliament said that the MQM expressed reservations with regard to the effectiveness of the Article 140A of the Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe prime minister informed them that a constitutional amendment will be passed with the consultation and consensus of all\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PM\u2019s adviser said that the no constitutional amendment will be brought without consensus among the government\u2019s allies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Article 140A<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is to be mentioned here that Article 140A of the Constitution mandates that each province shall establish a local government system and devolve political, administrative, and financial responsibilities to elected representatives of local governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the 18th Amendment introduced Article 140-A in 2010, it was hailed as a turning point. The new clause was supposed to cement the grassroot governance.
