The federal government has announced a special relief package for exporters dealing with delayed shipments to Gulf countries, aiming to ease financial pressure and support Pakistan\u2019s export sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar, stated that storage charges at Karachi Port Trust (KPT) terminals will be reduced by 25% to 50%. This concession will apply specifically to delayed shipments bound for Gulf destinations, offering much-needed relief to exporters affected by logistical disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the minister, the relief will also extend to containers and cargo stuck at ports. He emphasized that the initiative is designed to reduce financial burdens on businesses while helping maintain export momentum. Efforts are also underway to resolve logistical bottlenecks and improve cargo clearance processes at ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Junaid Anwar further outlined terminal-specific concessions. At KGTL, a 50% waiver on storage charges will be \u0932\u093e\u0917\u0942 from March 1 to March 20. At KICT, a 50% discount will be available from March 1 to March 10, while at SAPT, a 25% reduction will apply from March 11 to March 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister praised the efforts of KPT Chairman Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed, highlighting the importance of aligning port operations with modern trade requirements. He stressed that improving port efficiency is essential for boosting exports and ensuring smooth trade flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement comes at a time when Pakistan\u2019s exporters are facing challenges due to delays, rising costs, and global trade uncertainties. By offering targeted relief, the government aims to stabilize the export sector and enhance competitiveness in key markets, particularly in the Gulf region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
