It blocks attachments and other media files sent by unknown contacts, reducing the risk of hacking or malicious content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WhatsApp says the feature is primarily designed for <strong>journalists and public figures<\/strong>, who are more vulnerable to cyber threats. Once enabled, it puts the account in a <strong>lockdown mode<\/strong>, limiting certain functions to ensure maximum security. Users can activate it by going to <strong>Settings \u2192 Privacy \u2192 Advanced<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rollout has begun and will reach <strong>all users in the coming weeks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, WhatsApp is upgrading its <strong>security infrastructure<\/strong> by adopting the <strong>Rust programming language<\/strong>, replacing parts of its previous C++ code.
