Karachi:<\/strong> After several consecutive sessions of soaring prices, the gold market in Pakistan finally saw a sharp correction as rates plunged by more than Rs10,000 per tola<\/strong>, putting an abrupt halt to the metal\u2019s record-breaking rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA)<\/strong>, the price of 24-karat gold<\/strong> fell by Rs10,600 per tola<\/strong>, bringing it down to Rs446,300<\/strong> from its previous level of Rs456,900. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold<\/strong> dropped by Rs9,088<\/strong>, now standing at Rs382,630<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The significant decline in domestic gold prices mirrors the global trend, where the international price of gold dropped by $106 per ounce<\/strong>, settling at $4,252 per ounce<\/strong>. Analysts attribute this global correction to profit-taking by investors after gold touched all-time highs amid global economic uncertainty and fluctuating oil prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Market observers note that gold had seen unprecedented gains over the past few days \u2014 including a Rs14,000 per tola increase just a day earlier<\/strong> and a Rs1,900 rise two days before that<\/strong> \u2014 driven by global inflation fears, weakening currencies, and heightened geopolitical tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, traders now suggest that the latest drop reflects a temporary market correction as international bullion markets stabilize and the U.S. dollar shows relative strength against major currencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to APGJA representatives<\/strong>, fluctuations of this scale have become common due to heightened volatility in the international gold market, coupled with local currency pressures. \u201cThe local market follows international trends closely. When the global price dips sharply, we immediately adjust domestic rates,\u201d the association stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts believe the downward adjustment could bring some relief to local buyers, particularly in the jewelry and wedding markets, which had slowed considerably due to skyrocketing prices over recent weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gold dealers in Karachi and Lahore said that while the correction was expected, demand remains subdued. \u201cPeople are hesitant to buy because prices are still at historic highs, even after today\u2019s fall,\u201d said one jeweller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the international market, analysts foresee continued fluctuations in gold prices as global investors weigh the impact of central bank interest rate policies<\/strong>, Middle East geopolitical tensions<\/strong>, and uncertainty in U.S. economic data<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
