The villagers, including a large number of children and parents, gathered on the main road to register their anger and disappointment over the government’s continued negligence toward their right to education.

The protestors held placards and shouted slogans demanding immediate action from the education department officials. They said that despite repeated appeals and promises made by local authorities, their village still lacks even a basic primary school, depriving hundreds of children of their fundamental right to education.

The villagers explained that in the absence of a school in their own locality, their children are forced to walk long distances to nearby villages to attend classes. For many families, this journey — often several kilometers each way — is not only physically exhausting but also unsafe, especially for young children and girls. Some parents shared that due to financial constraints and safety concerns, they have stopped sending their daughters to school altogether.

A local resident, speaking on behalf of the protestors, said, “We have approached education officials many times, but no one listens to our plea. Our children want to learn, they want to study, but how can they do that when there is no school here? We are left with no choice but to protest.”

Another villager lamented that while the government often talks about ‘education for all’, the ground reality in their area paints a very different picture. “Our children watch other kids going to school in nearby towns, but they can only dream of such an opportunity,” he said with visible frustration.

The villagers stressed that education is not a luxury but a basic human right that should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live. They appealed to the Sindh Education Department, local administration, and higher government authorities to take urgent notice of the situation.

The protest continued for several hours, causing traffic disruption in the area. The villagers vowed to maintain their protest until their demands are met. They also warned that if the government fails to establish a school soon, they will organize larger demonstrations at the district headquarters and possibly even outside the offices of education authorities in Sukkur and Karachi.

Education experts have repeatedly emphasized that rural areas of Sindh face severe educational neglect. According to various surveys, hundreds of villages in the province still lack proper school buildings, qualified teachers, or basic facilities such as furniture and toilets. The situation in Rasool Bux Bozdar is a stark reminder of these ongoing disparities.

Many social activists and NGOs working for children’s rights have expressed support for the villagers’ protest, saying that denying children access to education perpetuates poverty and inequality. They urged the government to allocate special funds for the construction of new schools in underdeveloped areas and to ensure that existing ones are fully functional.

By the end of the protest, the villagers submitted a written petition addressed to the District Education Officer and the Deputy Commissioner, demanding that immediate steps be taken to establish a primary school in Village Rasool Bux Bozdar.

They concluded the demonstration with a collective call to action: “Education is the key to progress — give our children the light of learning.”

In a distressing reflection of the challenges faced by rural communities in Sindh, residents of Village Rasool Bux Bozdar, located near Garhi Chakar, staged a strong protest against the absence of a school in their area.
