Dera Ismail Khan<\/strong> \u2014 A tragic night unfolded in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as six police personnel<\/strong> and a mosque imam<\/strong> were martyred in a terrorist attack<\/strong> on the Police Training School (PTS)<\/strong> in Dera Ismail Khan, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The midnight assault<\/strong>, which took place between October 10 and 11<\/strong>, was carried out by militants belonging to the Indian-backed extremist group \u201cFitna al-Khawarij,\u201d<\/strong> ISPR reported. The terrorists attempted to breach the external security cordon of the training facility in a coordinated strike involving explosives and gunfire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to ISPR, the law enforcement personnel on duty responded swiftly and courageously<\/strong>, successfully repelling the attackers and preventing a large-scale tragedy. The terrorists rammed an explosive-laden vehicle<\/strong> into the main gate of the training school in an attempt to gain entry, triggering intense clashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the counter-operation<\/strong>, security forces managed to neutralize five terrorists<\/strong>, sending them, in ISPR\u2019s words, \u201cto hell.\u201d However, the attack claimed the lives of six brave policemen<\/strong> and the mosque\u2019s imam<\/strong>, who were martyred during the assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe terrorists\u2019 plan to inflict large-scale destruction was thwarted by the prompt and valiant response of police and security personnel. The nation stands united in honoring the sacrifices of these martyrs,\u201d the ISPR statement read.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The joint clearance operation was conducted by Pakistan Army<\/strong>, Elite Police Commandos<\/strong>, and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD)<\/strong> units. After several hours of intense exchange of fire, the area was declared clear and secure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security officials said that the terrorists were heavily armed<\/strong>, equipped with automatic rifles, grenades, and explosive vests<\/strong>. Investigations are now underway to identify their facilitators and trace their cross-border connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISPR reaffirmed the resolve of Pakistan\u2019s security forces<\/strong> to eliminate terrorism from the country, stating that \u201cthe sacrifices of our martyrs strengthen our determination to root out every last terrorist from Pakistan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funeral prayers for the martyred policemen and the imam will be held with full official honors<\/strong>, attended by senior civil and military officers. The government has vowed to provide financial and moral support<\/strong> to the bereaved families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This attack marks one of the deadliest assaults<\/strong> on a police training facility in recent months and highlights the ongoing threat of militancy<\/strong> in the region despite sustained counterterrorism efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
