Bangladesh’s Innings: Solid Start, Steady Build-Up

After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first. Their top order laid a stable platform, with Tanzid Hasan anchoring the innings through a composed 52 runs, supported by Saif Hasan’s 30 and Towhid Hridoy’s 26. The Bangladeshi batting card reflected intent but not recklessness, as the team managed to post 154/5 in 20 overs—a total that looked competitive on a tricky Abu Dhabi pitch.

Afghanistan’s bowling attack kept things under control for most of the innings. Spin maestro Rashid Khan and the promising Noor Ahmad both grabbed 2 wickets each, applying pressure during the middle overs. Despite their efforts, Bangladesh’s calculated batting ensured a fighting total.

Afghanistan’s Chase: Promising Start, Costly Collapse

Set a target of 155 runs, Afghanistan’s chase began positively, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz scoring a brisk 35. The innings gained momentum through Azmatullah Omarzai’s 30, while Rashid Khan contributed a quickfire 20 runs, keeping hopes alive in the final overs.

However, the Bangladeshi bowlers struck at crucial intervals, breaking partnerships and ensuring Afghanistan never fully gained control. The Afghan middle order faltered under scoreboard pressure, eventually being bundled out for 146 in 20 overs, just 8 runs short of the target.

Bowling Heroes for Bangladesh

The victory owed much to Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling effort. Mustafizur Rahman led the charge with 3 wickets, while Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain chipped in with 2 wickets each, collectively stifling Afghanistan’s batting order.
