Representing Yorkshire, Imam scored his fourth century of the tournament during the semi-final clash against Hampshire, cementing his status as one of the most consistent overseas performers in the competition.

Hampshire Set a Challenging Total

Batting first, Hampshire put up an imposing score of 304 for 6 in 50 overs, with their middle order delivering crucial runs. The target was always going to test Yorkshire, particularly as the match was interrupted by rain, leading to a recalculated run chase.

DLS Challenge for Yorkshire

Due to weather delays, Yorkshire’s target was revised under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, giving them 254 runs to chase in 41 overs. The shortened format meant Yorkshire’s batting order needed to attack from the start, putting additional pressure on their chase.

Imam-ul-Haq’s Superb Century

Rising to the occasion, Imam-ul-Haq anchored Yorkshire’s innings with a brilliant knock of 105 runs off 97 deliveries, showcasing his trademark stroke play—driving fluently through the covers, rotating the strike smartly, and punishing loose deliveries. His innings stood out as the backbone of the chase, displaying maturity and resilience.

This century marked his fourth in the tournament, a rare achievement for an overseas professional in county one-day history. Despite his brilliance, Yorkshire fell short of the target and could not secure victory, but Imam’s consistency was the highlight of the match.

Record-Breaking Performance

With this innings, Imam-ul-Haq set a new record for Yorkshire, becoming the first overseas player to score four centuries in a single edition of the One-Day Cup. His performances have not only boosted Yorkshire’s campaign but also caught the attention of cricket analysts back home, who believe his county stint will greatly benefit Pakistan ahead of future international fixtures.

Significance for Pakistan Cricket

Imam’s dominant run in English conditions demonstrates his adaptability and ability to perform in challenging scenarios. For Pakistan, this is a promising sign, especially with major international tournaments like the Champions Trophy 2025 on the horizon. His ability to score consistently and build long innings is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s top order, which has often been criticized for lacking reliability in pressure matches.

Although Yorkshire’s campaign ended in disappointment, Imam’s personal success story has been one of the standout narratives of this season’s county competition.

Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq continues to shine in English county cricket, making headlines with his remarkable form in the Royal London One-Day Cup 2025.
